Set in the year 1999 during the last days of the old millennium, the movie tells the story of Lenny Nero, an ex-cop who now deals with data-discs containing recorded memories and emotions. One day he receives a disc which contains the memories of a murderer killing a prostitute. Lenny investigates and is pulled deeper and deeper in a whirl of blackmail, murder and rape. Will he survive and solve the case?
I picked this up at the video store because I was bored and couldn&#39;t find anything else to rent. I had no idea that it was produced and written by James Cameron until the credits rolled.<br/><br/>But by then I was already convinced that Strange Days was a brillant success at combining true science fiction (society&#39;s reaction to technology) and emotional contact.<br/><br/>The first 20 minutes aren&#39;t great. It seems fairly atypical until about midway through. Maybe that&#39;s why it never really hit big. But the end is an unpredictable ride of fantastic cinema that conveys the chaos that surrounds the year 2000.<br/><br/>It deals with several issues (race, addiction) intelligently and without getting sloppy or campy.<br/><br/>It *should* be a classic, but unfortunately will probably go down as an underdog that barks in the shadow of Titanic.
First time a big disappointment about IMDb scores after I had relied on the 6.9 (Jan 2005).<br/><br/>This stuff is just trash but not trashy enough to be funny. The story is a mega-stupid blend of an every day good-guys-bad-guys cliché including a love story too trivial for Sunday afternoon TV soaps.<br/><br/>The whole flick comes in a stupid science fiction dress-up copied from 1983&#39;s &quot;Brainstorm&quot; which was OK but already a little outdated considering 1968&#39;s HAL in &quot;2001: A Space Odyssey&quot;.<br/><br/>Well, my dearest IMDb friends, please do not do this to me again……<br/><br/>Thanx &amp; love you all!

No, there were only the two rogue cops, one of whom had killed Jeriko-One in a fit of anger after being goaded by him during a routine traffic stop. He and his partner then went about trying to cover their tracks by attempting to kill Iris who had witnessed it all and destroy the recording of the incident which she gave to Lenny. Max made up the story of the death squad to prevent Lenny from going to the police with the recording and everything he knewJeriko-One was killed by two rogue cops which was witnessed by Iris. Max then killed Iris on behalf of Gant. Gant had been using Iris to spy on Jeriko-One and knew that if his music artists discovered he was secretly recording their every move he would be ruined. Gant also requests that Max kill Faith, however Max is secretly having an affair with Faith so he takes the opportunity to kill Gant instead and attempts to frame Lenny for both his and Iris&#39; murder
